How flutter was born: In 2010 I met Barbara, the president of the Association of Life for Africa. She shared with me the need for ultrasound machines in developing countries. At that time, there were 33 pregnancy centers under the ALFA and only 3 ultrasounds. When I was the CEO of a pregnancy center for 10 years, I experienced that magical moment when a girl, who is contemplating abortion, sees the heart beat at 5 and 1/2 weeks that looks like a fluttering butterfly. She realizes it's alive and it's a baby, and she chooses life.
Because ultrasounds in America are commonplace, it is almost impossible to comprehend a continent like Africa with 55 countries having 6.4 million abortions annually. Today there are 135 pregnancy centers under the ALFA and 8 ultrasounds. In America technology moves fast. Because of this, many pregnancy centers have new machines and their used ones sit in a closet in perfect working condition.
As I started putting this to prayer, God laid on my heart that He had put them in the closet for me to send to developing countries, and He told me to get to work. I wrote the Book Flutter, while I was in Africa, after realizing that the first step to help Africa was to teach the people that life begins at conception. Click the link to buy your copy.
